In this role, you will join a small team of three which has huge visibility and impact across the company, with opportunities to automate processes across all business units from IT to HR.

We know that every day is a school day as a coder and you never finish learning, and this is a great time to join the team. We are currently pushing towards working more with Sensu monitoring, Grafana and Ansible, and would love our new team member to build their skills in these areas. But perhaps more importantly, we want our new team member to come with ideas of what other tools we can use and how to best implement them. What can you bring to the party?

The team have recently implemented a bespoke framework for generating reports on our portfolio of games which generated more than £6.9billion last year - that’s a lot of reporting to do! They have also developed a discovery tool that draws a network map to pinpoint every device that is plugged in to our systems.

Camelot’s Infrastructure team is headed up by the same management that delivered the London 2012 Olympic & Paralympic Games and managed IT services of London transport over the last few years. In addition the Systems Automation Lead has been with Camelot for more than 16 years, so the leadership team in this role come offering a wealth of experience to tap in to of both Camelot systems and the wider industry.

How you'll make a difference

The Infrastructure team provides a technical services centre of excellence for the gaming and business platforms to support the complete installed IT base for both Live Production services and the complete Project Lifecycle. To support the complex, public facing IT infrastructure at Camelot, your role as “Systems Automation Engineer” will deliver automation and monitoring of these services to enable millions of players to enjoy The National Lottery games, across retail and online.

What you'll bring to the table

  • A thirst for knowledge and continuous improvement
  • Enthusiasm to try something new, while still maintaining legacy systems
  • Excellent knowledge of automation concepts and technologies
  • Excellent knowledge of systems monitoring concepts and technologies
  • Strong knowledge of scripting with some development experience (Perl, Java, HTML, Javascript)
  • A strong understanding of web application technologies
  • Good background knowledge of Unix & Windows operating systems
  • Basic TCP/IP networking and DNS knowledge
  • Experience of working with suppliers to deliver technical implementations
  • Sense of humour!
